Hi Welcome to Vila. Vila is the
little sleeping beauty of the South Pacific. This is Vanuatu's baby, that's why we call it
the "Jewel In the Crown". Set in the beautiful harbour of Port Vila, Vila
used to be an American Station during the WWII. The hills encompasssing
the town itself were lookout posts. From these hills, there are breath
taking views. It's best in the evenings when lights start coming on beneath you, out there
the sun is sinking into the horizon, as yellow as the egg yolk..
Here's when you can feel the serendipity of Vila. One of the best spots for this breath
taking views is just to the right of the Municipal Town Hall. You can see a shot from this
spot here. Another of these spots is from one of the
bungalows over the water at the Iririki
Hotel, a little island in the Port Vila harbour. The best
still is from Klems Hill, a steep hill towards the North. If
you wanted a birds eye-view, you could try one of the
Helicopter Operators operating in the Vila.
